Toyota has taken a measured approach to the all-electric segment, biding its time and carefully tracking trends while plotting its next move. Toyota’s first modern global-market EV platform arrived in 2023 with the bZ4X, now renamed the Toyota bZ for 2026. The compact crossover, which was initially named the bZ4X until a 2025 rebrand, has garnered plenty of attention in a few short years, offering drivers a compelling new EV option backed by Toyota's impressive track record of reliability and performance.

The bZ's versatility is tough to ignore, with the EV easily shifting between different driving duties. Whether you need a dependable option for your daily commute, a value-packed base trim that represents one of the more competitively priced compact EVs on the market, or a safety-focused ride that boasts several unique advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), it's time to track down a Toyota bZ for sale.

Let's dive into the details of the 2026 model and see how Toyota has put the rest of the EV market on notice.

Prioritizing Practicality

Looking to enjoy the performance and efficiency of an all-electric vehicle while still leveraging the sort of practicality and convenience that only a modern SUV can offer? Look no further than the Toyota bZ. The compact crossover offers up to 56.9 cu.ft. of cargo space and can comfortably seat five passengers, but that's just a small taste of what the Toyota bZ has to offer.

It all starts with the XLE, which defies its entry-level designation to provide buyers with a well-rounded suite of contemporary convenience tech. From a hands-free power liftgate and rain-sensing windshield wipers to keyless entry, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system, the bZ is designed to provide a seamless experience.

Every 2026 bZ is equipped with a generous 14-inch touchscreen infotainment display, seven-inch digital gauge cluster, dual wireless phone charger, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity right out of the box. This marks a major departure from the average SUV, which often requires buyers to invest in upper trims or pricey equipment packages to enjoy such modern conveniences.

The bZ also offers a full complement of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including some features that are tough to find on other base trims. The 2026 package includes all of the greatest hits, including:

  • Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning
  • Lane keeping assistance
  • Forward collision warning with automatic braking
  • Parking sensors

The SUV even packs a useful Safe Exit Assist feature that prevents the backseat passenger from opening the door if the SUV detects oncoming traffic. It might sound like a minor addition, but it's just another example of Toyota going above and beyond to create a safer road. The bZ Limited adds front cross-traffic alert, an automated parking system, and a 360-degree camera array to the mix, as well as a handy Traffic Jam Assist feature that can assist with low-speed driving in traffic under certain conditions.

Upgrade to the range-topping Limited trim, and you'll also be able to access a long list of premium features, not to mention a striking set of 20-inch wheels that instantly up the EV's curb appeal. The Limited also adds a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats, plus a panoramic sunroof that casts plenty of light over both rows. An optional two-tone exterior can set your bZ apart from the crowd, while the available nine-speaker JBL sound system provides a luxurious listening experience.

EV Efficiency In A Stylish Package

The daily commute can be a grind when your ride isn't up to the task, but the Toyota bZ is here to help. The compact SUV is easy to maneuver through tight city traffic, and can confidently navigate highway traffic. Throw in an impressive array of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and cutting-edge infotainment tech that helps make every drive more enjoyable, and the Toyota bZ makes a pretty strong case for itself.

Efficiency is another major selling point for most commuters, and the bZ certainly doesn't disappoint. The bZ can achieve up to 314 miles of projected range in select single-motor configurations, placing it among the stronger performers in the compact EV segment.

This sort of range makes the bZ tough to ignore for those seeking an EV that matches the convenience of a gas-powered model, but it's not the only factor buyers should consider when browsing the market. Charging time is another important factor when weighing different EV models, and the bZ just so happens to have a notable advantage in that department.

That's because the bZ is one of the few non-Tesla models to feature a North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port right out of the box. While other EV owners will need to spring for pricey adapters, bZ drivers can pull up one of the thousands of compatible Tesla Supercharger stalls and top off their SUV using an ultra-fast DC fast charger in as little as 30 minutes. The EV is also impressively quick when employing an AC connection thanks to a high-capacity 11-kW onboard charger.

New Powertrain, Same Toyota Value

The bZ's impressive efficiency isn't the only factor that makes the EV such a notable value. The crossover is also one of the most affordable all-electric models in the segment, boasts a strong warranty, and benefits from Toyota's longstanding reputation for dependable design.

We'll start with the price tag, which, even by Toyota's standards, is astoundingly low. While the exact price ultimately depends on the specific trims, features, and local market, The bZ is competitively priced among compact EVs, with a starting MSRP around $35,000. The Chevrolet Equinox EV is another strong value-focused competitor, but the bZ leaves the rest of the segment in the rearview mirror.

How has Toyota managed to keep costs down in a world of ever-rising prices? It all comes down to a little cooperation. The bZ was developed in partnership with Subaru, which markets a very similar compact crossover EV dubbed the Solterra. By splitting the R&D costs, Toyota and Subaru were able to affordably develop the new models. However, the Solterra lags in range and retails for almost $4,000 more.

Then there's Toyota's strong track record of reliability. The Japanese brand is often cited as one of the industry's most dependable automakers, and logged an impressive third-place finish in J.D. Power's 2025 Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). Toyota logged just 162 Problems Per 100 Vehicles (PP100), missing Mazda's second-place slot by a single point.

That sort of recognition should instill drivers with a strong sense of confidence every time they hit the road, but if a problem should arise, the bZ fares better than most when it comes to average maintenance and repair costs. Toyota includes an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty for key EV drivetrain components and battery coverage, with Toyota throwing in two years of complimentary ToyotaCare maintenance on the house.

Toyota's EV isn't alone in having low lifetime repair costs. While they might represent a new take on automotive technology, EVs are actually much simpler than their gas-powered predecessors in many ways. An EV's powertrain has far fewer moving parts than an internal-combustion model, which means drivers can save 30% to 50% on maintenance costs. An EV can also skip oil changes and go longer between brake pad and rotor replacements thanks to its regenerative braking tech.
